I am a filmmaker originally from Indiana, now a student at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago whose work examines the interiority and relationships of people through both documentary and fictional works, both short films and feature-length, and on digital or analogue film. I aim to tell stories that bring up considerations of emotions, understanding, and perspectives other than our own that we may either relate to or understand in a new context. I often prefer analogue because of its materiality and enjoy the practice of figuring out how I can integrate its meaning as an object into my work. I once had an art teacher tell me “I can’t hang a film on my wall,” and I have carried that with me as an idea. This extends to digital, as I consider the light from a screen or a projection to be a physical representation of my stories.
